In the context of globalization and growing conflicts and tension paired with spiritual and ethical crisis, the role of religious factor, inter-religious peace, and dialogue becomes more and more important. In this respect, Russia is a unique country, where Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Buddhism have been developing peacefully during many centuries, and this friendship of nations and religions has gone through all hardships. The established traditions of inter-faith peace have been serving before and are serving now to the cause of reinforcement of friendship between nations, solidarity of society, and prosperity of the Fatherland.
The example of Russia and the history of traditional religions show that the modern environment offers no alternative concept of peaceful co-existence of world traditional religions or cultural and civilizational systems.
The goals of this conference include considering of inter-religious peace as the paramount social and religious value and studying of the traditions, ways, and experience of strengthening the inter-regional peace and harmonization of inter-ethnical and inter-religious relations in various regions of the world.
Summarizing of historical and contemporary experience of religious organizations,famous theologians, diplomats, and public figures in the field of strengthening the inter-religious peace is of high theoretical and practical importance.
Among the conference participants are representatives of Russian and foreign state and private educational and research institutions, scientists and experts, and religious, public, and political figures from different countries.
The conference organisers are:the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, the Council for Interaction with Religious Associations under the President of the Russian Federation, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, the Russian Association for Protection of Religious Freedom, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization; the event will be held with assistance from the Fund for Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education.
