On April 19, Sergey Zhvachkin, the Governor of the Tomsk region, held a work meeting with mufti Albir Krganov, The Head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

Sergei Zhvachkin discussed with mufti Albir Krganov the first results of the interregional theoretical and practical conference "Traditional spiritual Islamic values as a factor in ensuring inter-ethnic harmony, justice and development", which ends today in Tomsk and in which Albir Krganov is actively participating. The governor and the mufti focused on the theme of interfaith relations.

“In our region, in the city of great quantity of universities, Tomsk, there have never been problems in relations between nationalities and religions, and we do everything to preserve this interfaith and interethnic peace, – said Sergey Zhvachkin. – We have been living in a neighborly and friendship way for centuries, there are representatives of 16 religious denominations and 140 nationalities living in our region. We all share a common goal - to make our region better, and its inhabitants happier”.
