Throughout the holy month of Ramadan, a series of Friendship Iftars is being held in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, organized by the official representative office of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia (SAMR). This month-long charitable initiative is supported by members of the SAMR Public Council from the business community and aims to assist local Muslim communities.
A recent iftar took place for the Muslim community at a mosque in the town of Sululta, located near the country’s capital, Addis Ababa. More than a hundred local residents gathered for the evening meal that breaks the fast. Ilyas Allahulov, the official representative of the SAMR in Ethiopia, addressed those present, along with imams from the surrounding areas. During the gathering, speeches highlighted the significance of Ramadan, mercy, and the importance of brotherly support among Muslims.
Traditionally, the breaking of the fast began with dates and water, after which guests were served a dinner featuring hot meals. As part of the program, believers are provided with hot meals daily throughout the month, and children receive gifts and sweets.
For many residents of the region, such gatherings represent vital support and an expression of fraternal care. Seeking the pleasure of the Almighty, the program’s participants strive to help those in need, while local Muslims warmly welcome these Friendship Iftars and offer prayers to the Almighty for all those involved in these good deeds.
